Seeing the Light by taffy

Seeing the Light

Light at the top of the pole where an emergency phone is located for calling campus police.
No need to read further...still reflecting on the 100th photo (in my main album) and the over 25% of the year in photos already behind me. This shot represents: (a) photography is more than finding the beautiful or interesting site (or item or wildlife or street scene). It's also about creating art or noting things others might miss. The mundane and eye of the beholder challenges are so good for teaching this and (b) it made me realize how much time I spend (inordinately) thinking about photographing something. In this case...April word of the day is 'olive.' Thought about buying a jar of green olives and doing something with it. Looked for olive color in nature -- grasses (didn't like that shot), plants (too green). Spotted this light on the way home (on an ugly pole with awful background) but thought I might be able to process into an olive colored light. Then decided instead to keep it as I liked it as is. Did some cropping and a little color enhancement. Really? For a photo for my extras album? Jim is right...this has taken over my life!
I really like the colours on this, amazing how taking just a small part of something can be more interesting than taking the whole of it. I went to the supermarket today and almost popped some vegetables in the trolley just to take their photograph, at least we can still eat the props :)

I like the symetry of the colors and lines in this image. It is neat how we really do look at things differently. I saw some neat icicles along the road way and was thinking of the best time of day for light and how I can safely take the picture of them, and without looking like a crazy person to everyone else! lol Great job on this image!

Nice color and lines in this shot.

That green glow is similar to seaglass, I really like that color. The extreme closeup making it almost an abstract is a super idea.

I think doing 365 is as intensive as taking photography as as graded/critiqued class. Especially with these "assignments" we take on! I am always thinking about shots, and never truly done for the day.

I love the shape in the photo, but your narrative is fabulous! I miss being closer so we can talk endlessly about photography . . . :)
