I'm posting this one as 'the best I could come up with' this week for my get pushed challenge for panning (I know this isn't panning, but I couldn't work that out, so went with the idea of motion in the spirit of the challenge). I took this phot from the 6 seater, 2 engine plane that we flew from the mainland (of Michigan) to Beaver Island, 33 miles off the northwest coast, in Lake Michigan. Jim was to my left, Nutmeg at our feet. I was trying to capture the motion of propellor as well as the movement (seen by its wake) of the large tanker (more easily seen if viewed large) below. It was a glorious day for a flight!
Jealous of your summer solitude. Sounds lovely. I like the composition of this shot. I did look like a lovely day for flying and definitely has a sense of motion.
This place sounds heavenly! I am jealous too! I've only flown over the Great Lakes and they looked massive from the sky. I think you captured that idea with the tanker looking so small. And you definitely got the feel of motion with the propellers.

Thanks Michael, Ann, Lisa, MaryBeth and Gena -- you guys are quick!! I'm sitting on the couch barely keeping my eyes open after the long day trying to decide whether to post a shot of the trip up (Nutmeg surrounded by boxes in the car) or the rhody (in bloom Ann!) or trillium which greeted us, or our first sunset. I'm excited to start a series on the island and the people who are so much a part of it. It's the antithesis of my 'real' life. So thank you for the inspiration!
Oh, soooo cool. But you are the epitome of cool. I tried to channel you tonight with some cityscapes and reflections of cityscapes in midtown Atlanta--oh, I am so bad at it. Enjoy the new abode for summer! Can't wait to see what you post! :)
@darylo I'm cool??? I love it! Interesting what personalities come through on the site, isn't it? Thanks -- looking forward to see your posts from the city!
