Taken yesterday and processed in Aperture, first converting to monochrome, then taking out the b&w to have the color come back for a splash of color in the middle of Black & White February. Black & White Book Club this month focuses on form and I thought this was a strong candidate as form, to me, is everything in this -- even with the color splash.

Still deciding what to post in main album -- and it's already after midnight. Still in NYC, guys never made it. Junko and I are making the best of it. though it's not at all what we'd planned!
Main album: Rainy photography in Times Square http://365project.org/taffy/365/2014-02-13
Wow...they look like bowls, but look so HUGE! Great processing and pop of red is so dramatic. Hope you two can force yourselves to enjoy NYC on your own. I am sure there is a warm coffee shop, wine bar, bistro, etc you can enjoy? Probably not the best walking around weather. Hope your sweethearts can make it yet!
@swilde Actually, these were huge light fixtures in a Camper shoe store. I was really blown away by how stunning they looked hanging from the ceiling, with the beautiful steel frame and the bright red lighting. But when I was processing, it just didn't look as spectacular as it did in person. When I played with the idea of flipping it, it looked 'right' to me. So, they really aren't bowls at all, but steel light fixtures, each about 5 feet across.
Amazing processing! I, too, was struck by the image; however, I didn't think of how to capture it to look this amazing. Your eye for design is incredibly strong.
Great job with the selective coloring! And nicely flipped too! Now I'm trying to remember what shot I asked everyone to guess on in my black and white album. Sheesh- short term memory loss already???!
These are so cool! There is absolutely no sense of scale, so I was definitely think bowls at a sushi restaurant or something. Lights fixtures; would never have guessed.
@taffy Oh- it is fun, isn't it? But then I have always enjoyed puzzles and such. I never would have guessed these were light fixtures. They flipped really well!
@archaeofrog@olivetreeann Ann, it is fun to guess. I thought Katie's fit the best as actually, I would love a set of bowls that looked like this. They would look so beautiful in a table setting!
@soboy5 Thanks Danny! It is one of my favorites of mine for all of 365. It's one of those times where the photo, with just a bit of processing, turned into the image I'd had in mind.
