Urban Hike Day 2...the Lurie Gardens at the Art Institute are just off Lake Michigan (well, a very long block off of the lake) at Millennium Park. The lighting today was wonderful so I decided to try a back to basics challenge of using my nifty fifty, sooc, no cropping, composing in camera, etc. [Theme by Richard Sayer: http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/23475/back-to-basics-who-s-up-for-a-big-challenge-in-september
I liked the soft colors and mix of the purple flowers and little white stuff (I know little about plants/flowers). This is the same area where I took the lensbaby photo of the grasses yesterday.
The delicacy of the flowers and the quality of the light is heart-meltingly beautiful! I also heard there was a Magritte show at the Institute...I was sorry to had to leave town!
I love the beauty in the image, the white and blue complement each other. I'm still working on Richard's challenge trying tobreplicate the lens on my bridge camera!
What makes this a great image for me is your choice of depth of field, as not only have separated the main subject (nicely placed on the thirds) but have also created a diffused background with a colour palate that is sympathetic to the main subject.
