I couldn't help myself. This cried out for some serious ETSOOI attention. This is the result of so many edits that I could never reconstruct. A combination of Photomatix, LR, Color Efex, and SnapArt in that order, but with several steps within each one. I'm embarrassed to admit I quite like it! It probably calls my taste into question...but it was a lot of fun to do!

And you managed all that wthout too much shadow noise build-up... well done you. Sadly, I presume the flowers on the pier leg indicate that someone died here.
Amazing! I can imagine how much fun you had doing this. It was well worth your time as it evokes many emotions. Kind of has an eerie, mysterious feel to it.
@vignouse@redy4et I wondered about the flowers when I saw them. Elizabeth, do you know what they might represent? I could imagine an accident during tides coming in, someone falling or hitting their heads. I have a lot of respect for tides having now walked the beach a bit as it was coming in!
@jgpittenger So glad you (and others) also liked it. Knowing how much I processed, I wasn't confident in the end result, even though I did like it myself.
Crazy editing! I am curious to know why the flowers are there- is that like the flowers they put on the side of the road when someone has died? Looks great.
If this calls your taste into question, then you'll find mine there too. This shot is very appealing and highly artistic processing. Some purists may sniff at this image as photography, but thats their loss. This is is seriously good photoart. Definite fav for me.
