Why is this even a thing? by tinley23

Why is this even a thing?

Good question so I looked it up "One of the most commonly believed reasons shoes are thrown over power lines is to signal the location of a crack house or prime drug dealing spot. Dangling shoes can also be the symbol of gang members claiming territory, especially when the shoes are hanging from power lines or telephone wires in an intersection." Or "Others believe it is done by bullies who steal a pair of shoes and put them in a place where they cannot be retrieved."
I had no idea!

Somebody isn't going to be popular with his Mum when he gets home.

I always heard it meant a drug dealer lived there, as Larry mentioned above. I like the shot, great clouds.

The significance is all news to me, but I like this shot, Lesley, with the different lines, the blue sky, and the clouds (and the shoes, of course).

Somehow I don't think we will ever know the real reason but they always make for a good photo

Not a clue, but you see it in many places. Love the set up!
