I don't know how many others here on 365 would find a resonance in this, but me, I'm always trying to make the next image better than the last; to find the 'killer image' that will get me on PP or - even better - TT... striving always to improve as a photographer.
What's wrong with that, you ask? What's wrong is I forget to record my life, to capture the occasions and the events that are important to me and my family.
Tonight was a good example: we went for another walk down the dried up bed of the river Aff and it was a really nice sharing time. Here's a picture of Mrs S trying to decide whether to go over or under a fallen tree... Mitzi has already decided!
It's just a snap... but it's more important to me than all those fancy images.
I know what you mean. I tool some lovely pictures today. Pictures a month ago I would have loved, pictures I have had in my mind to take for a while, and when I reviewed them I wonder if they could live up to my last three days. And then I decided to post the ones I like today and not put the pressure on myself. Funny we both had that moment today. And so for me this is a fav because you are all having lovely time and you have shared that with us.
Understand your comments perfectly. It's as if you have been reading my thoughts. Your profile comments are pretty much the same as mine. Like your snap.
You have hit the nail on the head Richard. It is hard to post the 'snaps' so well done for doing so. The photographer in you has ensured a good composition and lighting, so not really just a snap. I am finding my 100 happy days album perfect for recording the day to day things and might continue after the 100 days are finished - just to keep the record.
I know exactly where you are coming from. There are precious shots I haven't taken of family and friends because I am striving for perfection. Your shot has really made me re evaluate. Thanks
Ian
It's great to have balance in life.
