This is part of the old rail-line that originally connected Sarzeau on the south coast of Brittany with the port of St. Malo on the north coast. The structures on the left are several blocks of disused gas-bottle cages ready for recycling, but I was taken by the way that they looked like ruined apartment blocks. Overall, it has the appearance of an urban dystopian nightmare, so I processed it to suit as an entry for the ETSOOI-62 challenge and added an 'otherworldly' sun for good measure.. The theme for the challenge is 'movement' - my image shows what happens when movement stops... decay sets in.
This is definitely one that views best on black...
@gamelee You're right of course Lee but decay is the mechanism that Mother Nature uses to revert to their original state the materials that man tore from her bosom! That's my story and I'm sticking to it ;-))
hmmm...after reading your description and comments it makes me think of a science fiction movie set in the future...perhaps after a nuclear explosion....
So if you were a girl you'd put on a big pink frock and tie yourself to the tracks? If you ever need to borrow one of my princess gowns Richard just let me know. This is maigc x
@dbj@maree_sanderson@skipt07 Thanks for tking the time to visit and comment. With 1259 images posted I don't need all the fingers of even one hand to count the number of times I have posted two versions of the same image but with this one I thought, 'what the heck... why not?' I spent around 10 hours today preparing a talk and images for the photo club meeting tonight and around three hours at the club this evening. I wanted to post the etsooi version for the challenge and I simply didn't have the time to find another ocoloy image! And here I am at almost 3am catching up with commenting! Some days this feels more like a full-time job than a hobby!
@vignouse .wow...you are busy!...in reply to your last sentence...i know!...me too!...i'm spending heaps of time on here viewing these amazing images...then with my camera...then viewing and editing... know in this house the housework is suffering a little...ok...maybe a bit more than a little...but life is short and i'm just finding my own feet as my last child is finding hers in readiment to leave the nest, and my partner is finding his in his readiment to retire from work, and we all seem to not worry about the small stuff too much...so i'm just going to enjoy it while i can...cheers!
What fun...a processing beanfeast! Eerie and stunning! The star has a hint of Russia about it. This said, I'm reminded of a line from Elton John's song 'Daniel' and exercising license, 'O, I miss processing...I miss it so much.'
I like the natural/industrial juxtaposition. Shame about that purple thing that's invaded the shot and cast an ugly light on one of the structures! :-)
@yrhenwr As strange as it might seem, in this one stack all the gas-bottle cages were painted red which translated to this colour in processing - I sampled it for the colour of the 'alien sun'... well it is an entry for etsooi-62!
