Nowhere near as grand as Biltmore House in Asheville, but Stansted House has an interesting history.
I volunteer in the bookshop and today all of the estate's volunteers ( house stewards, archivists, gardeners and bookshoppers) were invited to a light lunch to thank us for our time, hard work and help.
A lovely room. The Biltmore House is on my bucket list! I have seen the Newport Mansions in Newport RI too! Fascinating history and stories about the quirky rich. It had to be old money...no new money/working rich people were accepted to the culture.
I don’t know how it compares to the Biltmore never having seen either one, but it looks as if the entry fee is much more affordable here. Elegant looking photo, and so good to know you are among the posh in order to dine here.
An elegant room. Not so sure I would fancy living in those times though, a bit too fussy for me and I am not so sure I would like the ancestors watching me from the walls, ha ha.
