I was looking for sea glass and shells for another project. The large stone has fossil indentations on both sides; this side has this tiny shell indentation the other looks like plant fronds. I really hope the curved one is a tooth, it's very light, so not a rusty nail as it looks here.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Oh my dear, I feel humbled that you ask, but I have no idea. :-( The big piece does look like a fossil to me too and I would be excited if I had found it.
What kind of "bed-rock" is it? Flint? Crionoids are common, and often look like plantlike things.
About the tooth it doesn't look like a shark tooth to me. If it is a fossil it could be from a croc???? But I wouldn't bet one penny on it. Probably it is "just" from any kind of bigger fish / porpoise / seal or so. Still pretty exciting to find it.
As there is just a lot of question marks in my brain, you probably do some reading/asking here: https://ukfossils.co.uk/category/hampshire/ or here https://ukfossils.co.uk/2015/06/30/a-collection-of-eocene-and-oligocene-fossils/
Have fun and enjoy your find. Thanks for sharing.
@mona65 thank you xx I had looked on Hampshire sites, nothing like I found. I'll chuffed to have found them and they're with others I've found!! XX @grammyn I was surprised at size when put with ruler, my eyesight is probably not as bad as I thought @shutterbug49 I've decided it's s tooth!! @swguevin2 I know!! Right chuffed,
When I visited The Chatham Islands a couple of years ago we went fossil hunting for sharks teeth on one particular beach.. found some .. they were a purple colour and a different shape to this but very intriguing..
Quite amazing. I've never ever found a fossil. But I think you have too be our in nature to find them :) and only recently have I discovered my own backyard.
