This, for Mike Gifford's WWYD112
He asked us to explain the steps... I made both photos the same size, and in this case, I wanted to keep the surfer as a smaller image, like a child's toy.
In Photoshop, I chose: Select: Color range and highlighted all the white foam so I had the edges. I then used the lasso to enclose all the surfer & water in the foreground. . . cut and paste to the pool photo. There wasn't enough water for the pool area, so I patched in a few more pieces, compressed the layer and used the clone tool to blend the movement and coloration. I also selected a small strip of foam, rotated it a little and used it against the edges of the pool. This actually wasn't at all difficult, and http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2014-06-12 was even easier, just using the select Color Range for all the white, copied and pasted it to the open sky under the existing cloud and did a little cloning to add cloud color to the waves, making the blend from foam to clouds. I have a lot of pictures of Ashton splashing and riding a boogie board in the pool... You can tell me to "Stop Already!" as I might tend to over do a good thing! (Thanks for reminding me to add this, Anita!)
This is also for Charlie's 100happydays because I'm close to ecstatic that I live in this day and age when the techno toys are *so much fun*!
This is such fun Louise! In college we had to do something like this so I took the photo from my junior prom and cut my date out (he wasn't a keeper) and upgraded him for a better model. It's fun but an eye opener that you can't always believe what you see. Excellent job!
Beautiful processed . You did a great, nice job . It makes a lovely and very funny pic.
