Back in the late '90s when we first came to Nova Scotia for a visit, I sat in the park listening to music in the bandstand. I looked over my shoulder to these houses and dreamed of what it might be like to live in a purple house as old as this one...
A lot of twists happened over the following two years... We bought a lot 20 min outside of town with plans to build... When we realized the frivolity of doing that without knowing anyone, we decided to buy something in town to use as our base... "The Purple House" was then on the market, we fell in love with this location in town and "the lot" sits empty still, covered with "Christmas trees"!
One daughter got married on the back deck here. Our children love this town and the house, asking us to keep it in the family. I'm so glad it fell to us when it did and I hope to leave a nice imprint on it for generations to come.
(This house was the first on the street, built in 1888, and it sports the classic "Lunenburg Bump" with its view to the harbour)
I am literally going to die when I come out there in September - I know I won't want to leave! Hope to leave on Sept. 4th to drive out there. Will send you an email - if you don't mind? Hope to stay 2 to 3 days over Bay of Fundy side and then 2 or 3 days in Lunenburg area. I've been looking at Nova Scotia travel sites for too long today - my eyes are crossed. ;)
How did I overlook this great pic. of the beautiful color painted houses. In Holland it`s not done but in Belgium (the country south of us) it`s more usual to do.
