I was hoping a clever title would come to me because "nightlife" around here only comes in the form of small animals! I'm sitting by an open window and it's silent as a tomb out there! (That could be construed as "sensible people are getting sleep at midnight"...)
Well, the baby monitor picked up the presence of this guy I now call "Notches"...he doesn't mind me standing there at the door at all. I couldn't capture his cuteness without using the flash, but for followers like Marnie, in Australia, who's never seen a raccoon, I wanted to show the cute mannerisms and the fat fluffiness as well. The magic monkeys will overlook this one, but it was all about the fun, taking these pictures just a few minutes ago. And now I'm going to do what the rest of "the sensible people" are doing!
@golftragic Took this within the last half hour (11:45 PM June 30) and wanted to share some more with you...they're regulars every night, but it requires staying up to see them!
@pyrrhula Thank you for calling them "cute" :) Around here, people don't like them...complain that they get into the trash. My response is that they're hungry...just feed them like I do and they don't bother anything! And I LOVE those faces! Sort of like Pandas, only more plentiful and everyone can have one! I remember Hazel asked a question about them... @quietpurplehaze I would be cautious, but they're more shy than aggressive. I've hand fed them shrimp in California. Just like he's using two paws to eat out of the dish, they'll take food and "wash it in water" before eating it. And they can look you in the eye and be dipping their hands in the food at the same time...so funny and cute to watch! For the price of cat food and table scraps, we'll be entertained all summer!| One year Mom and Dad brought SIX babies to the porch to eat! Such fun!
Ah Louise, your commentaries so often make me laugh out loud! I can just picture you up with the night owls, watching this masked bandit dine on the dinner offered. I love raccoons! Have raised a few motherless litters in the past; what darling tho mischievous characters they are.
