I bet they don't. Do you know the kid's picture book Six Dinner Sid? You'd love it (and I'm sure the grandkids would love it too. I's about an overweight cat!
@scarybird He *looks like mine*, doesn't he?! We laugh that every summer there is a cat who adopts us. We know (Max...his given family name!) belongs to the neighbours two doors down, and when they put him out at night, he comes straight here! He's a gem of a cat and loves to cuddle...very affectionate. He was our "summer cat" a year ago and returned when we did. He'll survive without us, but he and i, we'll miss each other...
Fred is a lovebug!! And, those people who put him out at night do not deserve him!! Do you ever wonder how he gets by when you are not there half the year?! I bet he spends his nights hanging out at your place hoping that you will open the door and let him in!
@panthora This was a topic of discussion at the dinner party the other night with my neighbors! My friend, Wilma, lives directly behind us (year round) and she said she'd kept an eye out for him...said she seldom saw him. I hope his family keeps him inside when it's freezing! Billy & David also live a couple more doors up the street, triangulating Fred's house and would keep a look out for him. They had the most amazing cat until a couple years back. I watched David cuddling Fred, and I know he still adores cats, but the loss of Dill was quite painful to him. Fred will be okay... I'm working on fattening him up for the winter :)
