Have you ever gone into your post office and asked to have a local "Pictorial" for a cancellation on your mail? Most people don't know about them.
I've been turning my photos into postcards (have two printed on a 5x7 greeting card & cut them apart!) as they're perfect for dashing a quick note to a friend when I might procrastinate over writing a letter. Our local postal worker knows I won't send anything without one and had to go looking for it the first time I asked! To me, it's that little special touch that says, "I cared enough to send the very best"...
Apologies to Hallmark... My cards were more personal and cost a fraction of what theirs do!
What a fabulous idea! I doubt anyone at my local post office has even heard about such a thing! In fact I doubt whether anyone I know even knows about it. I have only just found out about it right now through you! They say that you learn something new everyday, and this proves it.
What a lovely thing to do, Louise! I never get mail. Maybe I should get you my address so you can send me a card! Actually, I have had some of my photos made into note cards. I have looked for a site that can do that without putting THEIR logo on it. If you have one let me know!!
That's such a great idea - and how fabulous that you have a friendly post office guy willing to "go the extra mile". If I asked for this at our local post office I have no doubt I'd be greeted by a blank stare and a shrug.
@salza If you discover this is available in SA, please let me know! ;) Somehow I doubt it tho`
How on earth did you find out about pictoral postmarks? Lol!! They must be one of the postal service's best kept secrets - I don't think many people could have heard of them. You have certainly proven that you care to go to so much trouble to send such personalised cards.
