WOD: eco. It is fun to see the ecology of the prairie coming to life with the moisture we've had these past few weeks. Wildflowers, though often similar in appearance to cultivated flowers, have much smaller blooms.
These blossoms are tiny, measuring only about 1/2 cm. They grow on the rocky hillsides in small mounds much like creeping flox. Most of the prairie wildflowers are yellow, white, or occasionally orange, so this lovely little purple bloom really catches the eye.
