October rainbow challenge - Week 4: People - Saturday: Pink

Very cold with a rising sun when I got up this morning. Got washed and dressed and rushed outside to see what there was to photograph. Walked up an ascending muddy bridle path, with remnants of a frost on the leaves, along the side of the house and was rewarded with a lovely view of fields dotted with sheep all golden from the rising sun. And in the distance the blue of the sea. Apparently if I’d walked just a few yards further I’d have come across some deer.
Breakfast was good – fried egg, veggie sausage and a hash brown, plus toast – although could have done with some fruit or tomatoes.
Then a morning of workshops, learning a fair number of new tunes all by ear, in a class with lots of other melodeon players led by Katie Howson and Jeannie Harris.
Lunch was jacket with cheese and, this time, fruit. Had time to pop out in the full sunlight of what was now a lovely, if fresh, day before the afternoon’s workshops of more tune learning. For the final workshop we were mixed up in different, smaller groups to prepare for a performance tomorrow – playing one of the tunes for dancing. I was a bit unnerved at the smallness of our group, just five of us, with Sue Harris leading.
Then a lovely evening stroll in the setting sunlight – lots of lovely golden light through the golden-leaved trees.
Dinner tonight – salmon, veg and fruits of the forest meringue – then a ceilidh with Polkaworks – lots of excellent tunes and dances – if a touch short on the partner front. Then another short session in the bar – feeling quite relaxed as we knew we had an extra hour to play with.
