40 something years

Just a bit of a personal diary upload. After today my name will no longer be on the NMC (nursing & midwifery council). I decided at the beginning of the year that I wouldn’t revalidate again. Put this collage together to mark the occasion
Congratulations on a long career. Think of all the people you’ve helped along the way!

thank you for all your years service to the NHS and society.

I worry for the future of our hospitals under this government (sorry that's a bit of a political statement, but it hast to be said)

Happy New Year

@phil_howcroft thanks Phil, both systems are broken - I wouldn’t like to be starting out now, for sure!

42 years my darling; you’ve been the last of your intake still nursing for many years and after the crap of 2020 and 2021 you deserve to rest now.

@koalagardens I actually worked my last shift back in March. But I was still on the Register until yesterday. These days you have to revalidate every three years & pay a yearly fee of £120 to stay on the Register & be able to practice.

@Dawn I will miss aspects of it, but not the stress of knowing you are failing people because you don’t have the right staff ratios etc etc My last two years was just a mountain of paperwork with no time to do it & constantly being on the phone to either the GP surgery or the local outsourced pharmacy chasing medication. Meanwhile knowing that if that patient goes without medication for three days it’s a safeguarding issue! …….

Great collage of your career. I think you have made the right decision, the healthcare systems in most countries are just falling apart. I am entering my 46th year this year, hopefully not for many more
