Hubby and I were enjoying a nice ride in the country when he spied flames in the rear vision mirror, pulled over and told me to jump off. He wasn't happy with me because I HAD to rescue my camera bag out of the boot. I managed to get it open (with some difficulty) and got all the gear out. Was a bit worried about the petrol tank blowing - had just filled up a few kilometres earlier.
Oh my word it's your bike! I thought it was a farm bike you just happened to see! A lovely bike it us too! Good job you rescued your camera to take these photos. A cool carm lady!
This is YOUR vehicle?! Oh my word. So sorry. But very glad hubby was quick to realise what was happening and that you are both ok. Great capture - will be handy for the insurance!!!
@nzkites No never dreamed I would have been taking photos like that!! @kali66@fbailey@littleconnie@novab@merrelyn@elkereturns@bintal@merrelyn@elkereturns@bintal@yorkshirekiwi@graemestevens
Thanks so much guys. Was quite a shock to see the flames coming out of the trike while on the road, but we did have time to get off, and thank goodness I got my camera gear off!! So the only loss is the bike. Such a sweet ride too!! @happypat Yes it was our trike. - Actually our first ride on that one! @alinz Thanks Ali, yes it was ours! @jamibann Thanks Issi, yes it was good he realised what was happening, and it was lucky the fuel tank didn't explode. It was bad enough when the back tyres exploded! While I was trying to open the trunk, I was expecting it to go up any second!!
Again, SCARY!! However, excellent pic.
As a side note, out of curiosity, go through all the pics you took of the fire and see if you can find a "fire dragon" in them. In all the ones I've taken of the "burn to learn" fires done by our fire department, there's always at least one dragon-looking thing made of flames in there somewhere. Very interesting!
VERY glad you are OK!!
Oh good grief - I didn't realize that was your trike! How ghastly for you and for your husband. You were so lucky that it didn't have a worse ending. I'm so pleased you were both OK!
OMG!!!! But I had to smile at your description of getting your gear out, and then taking the shot, which is great and tells a scary story. It reminds me of our house fire -- I 'saved' my camera gear and computer, and spent time at 4:00 a.m. as we watched it burn taking pictures of the firefighters at work. I'm glad it was 'only' the bike and that you are both well. Things can be replaced!
Wow - great presence of mind to rescue your camera gear - and then use it. Brave and resourceful woman however maybe the camera was insured too? I'm glad you are both safe though.
