Poor Knights Lily by dkbarnett

Poor Knights Lily

This is one of my favourite plants. It comes from the Poor Knights Islands and grows on the cliff faces where there is little dirt and it is quite exposed. While it was planted in my garden (lovely rich deep soil), it grew well, but didn't flower! Now it is transferred into a container and it is flowering beautifully.
Oh, these are lovely!

Not a flower I'm familiar with. I guess would have guess it was called that because the flowers reminded someone of the lances knights carried.

What a spectacular plant! Funny how it seems to prefer less-than-perfect conditions.

@yaorenliu The botanical name is Xeronema callistemon @randystreat The common name of the plant originates from the Poor Knights Islands on which it was discovered. The islands, in turn, were so named because of their similarity in shape to the Poor Knights Pudding – a bread-based dish popular at the time of their discovery by Europeans. - That was from google! I enjoy bread pudding but I have never heard of Poor Knights Pudding 😁
