For most of today I was catching up with this project and also looking at the house insurance again.
In the evening it was over to kew for photo club and the annual judging of the open print competition. The judge was very good for a change. Todays photo is of a fledgling jay, one of at least three practicing their flying around the car park of St Lukes. Not a brilliant shot as only on my iPhone!
Last task of the day was tackling my little ghost hamster Mr Huffkins cage clean. I was not looking forward to it. In the end we moved his cage to the hall where we could block any potential escape routes. I managed to lift him and his sand bath into a pre-prepared large storage box filled with sawdust and then cleaned his house probably the fastest I have ever cleaned it! I managed to cut out a dreadlock tangle from his fur (I was hoping I’d e able to brush him as with past hamsters but that’s not an option). Finally it came time to return him which was almost a disaster but at least he tumbled fairly gently onto the very thick layer of sawdust in his house and he smells fresh now. He spent the rest of the benign (well early morning) looking shell shocked on top of his wooden house - oh dear.
