The fisherman. by happypat

The fisherman.

This fisherman had his pole out right across the canal path & was quite bad tempered when I tried to get past!
I could hear him mumbling to himself!

I bet his wife is glad to get rid of him all day!

I took this as I walked towards him so only just got his head in there. You can see the pole across the path.
Oh grumpy britches. He needs to take some happy pills. Great shot though

Rude!! I have decided that lots of fishermen are anti-social (cue backlash!) - when Monty sat in a tent belonging to one of them and looked thoroughly pleased with himself he was met with a great deal of grumpiness!

Mr. Grumpy needs to start the New Year with a better attitude. Maybe the fish weren't biting and he was just in a very bad mood!

Not very friendly...

@judithg Ah I can just imagine & Monty has only been used to being welcomed so he wouldn't understand the rejection! I'm sure all fishermen aren't like that!!

@essiesue That would be it Sue!

@julzmaioro I couldn't see his face just heard him & he made me wait while he got his rod set up!

@gijsje I think it's a solitary sport & perhaps they lose the art of being friendly sometimes.

You should have purposely tripped over his pole, fell on to him so he would fall into the water! Then you could have grabbed his fish and ran! The canal looks quite pretty here and lovely to walk along!

Fishermen can be like that. Wonderful shot though. Love the reflections.

beautiful reflecttions!!

Good shot. Can't see why the pole wasn't laid down, it doesn't seem to be in action.

Excellent shot, great reflections

@jennywren They don't lay their poles down because many have had them ridden over by cyclist, and they're not cheap to replace. No excuse for rudeness though.

Great shot Pat

Grumpy old sod. Maybe he was just a bit wet, cold and not managed to catch any fish.

Sheesh!
January 5th, 2016
Great pano crop and story
January 5th, 2016
@gamelee I did offer to climb over or bend underneath but he wasn't happy about that either! He didn't bother me, I laughed to myself!
January 5th, 2016
Neat shot and I'm still giggling over your story!
January 5th, 2016
@gamelee Good point.

Yep I've definitely met the grumpy fisherman sort ... usually when we are out on kayaks and wish to get past their lines that stretch right across the water. I'm always apologetic, but hubby takes a more direct approach!

fancy Pat, you had the audacity to walk along the towpath. Fab pic mind you :)

thinks he owns the place. lovely place to walk

Love the wide angle look and the reflection. The candid shot of the fisherman is so interesting and tells a good story.
