All aboard the Sleigh Ride

Did anyone else watch this amazing programme on BBC4 during the Christmas holidays?

On for two hours with no sound except the sounds of the reindeer & an occasional few words from the two girls & the people they met en route.

A very strange programme which became rather mesmerising & I found my self getting quite excited when we saw figures or bonfires on the horizon!

It's taken me three goes to watch it all but the light & the quietness was beautiful.

Two hours north of the Arctic Circle a very different life to most of us!
Looks fascinating..

Two hours! Sounds a lot with no commentary! But a different land and different people would make it fascinating! These must be pics from the programme?

@maggiemae yes I took photos of the TV, I wasn't there unfortunitly maggiemae. You would think it would be boring but it wasn't at all although I didn't watch it all at once! Only because the weathers not good & its Christmas time otherwise you just wouldn't have the time!

@pinkpaintpot it's very soothing & strangely fascinating Linda. There are various stops on the way so not just wLking through the snow. You can just stop & watch a bit when you want.

thanks for telling us about this. We downloaded it and I watched it today. Like you I had to watch it in half hour bursts but I agree it was mesmerising. I couldnt believe how they just walked and walked in what looked like a wilderness. I felt like I was on the sleigh and couldnt wait to come across another person or see where they would end up. It was so quiet and peaceful.

@cruiser so glad you enjoyed it Chris. It was certainly something different, I couldn't think how they kept their hands & feet warm, the stuff they wore didn't seem that thick. I suppose their bodies are used to the temperatures. I was hoping to see a small township at the end & perhaps a visit to the pub!! A fitting end though!
