Malcolm's Heart by jamibann

Malcolm's Heart

Malcolm Appelby was an up and coming silversmith, engraver and artist that mum and dad knew back in the seventies when we lived in Banchory. I remember that Malcolm lived in a wooden caravan, had a wild beard, and wore a very special and completely eccentric, sweater every day. He is now a renowned Artist, probably still eccentric, and based in Aberfeldy. I recently re-discovered his work on instagram and got in touch and bought this lovely heart pendant ... I haven't yet decided whether it's for me or a friend. We'll see! But in the meantime I thought it worked well for shapes and textures for this last week's theme on Flash of Red February.
How lovely. I shall look him up.

How wonderful to have known Malcolm through the years as he rose to be acknowledged for his accomplishments and skills! All artists of worth are eccentric; it's a part of their vitality!

Nice shot and interesting story. I think I would keep this pendant for yourself and buy a similar one for our friend ha ha.

A different sort of view of this pendant. I like how DoF captures part of the it and how narrow (from front to back) the plane of focus is.

I enjoyed reading your background to this picture. Malcolm does sound like a good eccentric soul - who has done well!
