Pier Happenings

A few folk about at the Leebitton Pier with boats being put into the water. With a system of pulleys to help the car was pulling the cradle into and out of the water to assist with the launchings. I did say to the driver that he could help me with a more interesting photo if he left his handbrake off but he declined to help.
What an interesting system - can he not just back his car and trailer down - is it slippery?

@robz One reason would be to keep the car out of the sea water, which is quite corrosive. Elsewhere, I have seen people reverse down to put the wheels in the water, but it does not do the cars any good.

@robz I'm no expert but you'd think that would be possible.

@markp Keeps the car well out of the water. There was a case last year of a BMW slipping its hand-brake (which BMW say is impossible) and being virtually submerged. A similar system was use dto bring it ashore. https://365project.org/lifeat60degrees/365/2022-03-02
