Wood Burner Fire by onewing

Wood Burner Fire

A couple of nights ago we finally had to light our wood burner fire for the first time this year.

During the day it is quite warm, but because the nights are so clear at the moment the temperature drops considerably as the sun goes down. Thank heaven for our lovely wood burner.
Wow! That looks nice and cosy. Lovely pic Babs.

It looks so warm and inviting, there is nothing in the world like a wood fire when it's cold.

Whilst I would love a wood fire we aren't encouraged to have one in Canberra due to the smog in winter. So I enjoy "central heating" which isn't quite as romantic as a wood fire. Some people put in "pretend " fires for the atmosphere.

@steampowered Thanks Paul. It is lovely just sitting in dimmed light watching the fire. Very therapeutic.

@mrsbaldy We've done very well this year. We usually have the fire lit by the end of April.

@angelat I know what you mean about air con. the good thing about a wood burner is that it keeps the house warm overnight whereas you usually turn off the aircon when you go to bed so it cools down quicker.

@joluise Central heating is good though. Any kind of heating in winter is good!! Can't cope with cold these days.

@gypsy6 Drop in whenever you want to.

@gamelee Thanks Lee. Unfortunately, you wouldn't want a wood burner all year round out here. When it gets to 40 degrees in summer you would seriously melt if you had your wood burner lit at the same time!!! I'll have to take a photo just of the flames and stick it to the front of the glass on the burner in summer. that should do it without having the heat eh!
