As proud as a peacock. by onewing

As proud as a peacock.

I had a terrible job trying to get a shot of this peacock. He wasn't the proud one of the family, he was the shy one, because he kept running away. I finally got this photo of him sitting on top of a fence. (The peacock was on the fence not me)!!!

A few seconds later and I would have been ready to ring its neck!!!

It would probably look better large on black if you are interested.

A very lovely shot Babs. Great DOF and pov. Nice colours. Lovely.

What a face - looks a little put out, perhaps because you had been chasing him!!!

Well done to balance the background and foreground light! Interesting bird!

I'm sorry, the thought of you sitting on the fence just made me chortle with glee even though I knew just what you meant! Love the shot!

Lovely clear shot, nicely framed. I have got some photos of a family of hedgehogs we had in our garden a couple of years back. I'll try and dig them out for you. (I must get my photo's organised - I have them everywhere).

Got him in the end!

Sounds similar to my attempts to get a shot of a peacock. :)
You got there - lovely detail.

@derekvickers I was pleased with the result in the end. Because he was sitting on a fence I was taking it into bright day light, so the background worked really well I think.

@yaorenliu Thanks, I think he had his eye on me!!
@winnedreamer Thanks Nic. After the trouble I had taking this photo I was pleased with the result in the end.

@joluise He was a bit put out!!! I was determined to get him.

@streats Thanks Ian. He was a bit of a challenge.
@elaine55 Thanks Elaine. He was very hostile!!

@dekky740 @angelat @lafish @sbolden Thanks so much for your lovely comments. Peacocks aren't the prettiest of birds are they. It wasn't until I took this shot that I realised that. You only usually look at the tail.

@steampowered Glad I made you chortle. I am not sure the peacock was doing that though. He wasn't happy that I was chasing him. He was probably thinking rude words, mainly f's and b's!!!!

@tryingforsighs Thanks Rachel. I would love to see your hedgehog pictures. Haven't seen a hedgehog for 24 years!!! We used to get them in the garden in the UK. We have echidnas here which look a bit similar.

@angelar @humphreyhippo Thanks. Yes, got him in the end. Not easy I can tell you. I do sympathise HH, they are not easy to capture are they!!!

@gamelee Thanks Lee. I needed a cup of tea after getting this shot!!!

@custodiabaptista @daisyjuds Thanks so much. He was hard work to get a decent shot of though.

Beautiful Blue Birdie

@ginnykoppenhol @joeyc Thanks so much. I realized when I took this that you usually don't look at the head of the peacock, you tend to just look at the tail, so this was the first time I actually had close look at the face of the bird.

Beautiful portrait Babs! This guy is an aesthetically pleasing bird! Gorgeous detail and excellent composition!

Stunning portrait of him - absolutely beautiful :)

@sunraye @alia_801 Thank you both. Never really looked at the face of a peacock in detail before. Usually spot the tail first.
