After the storm by onewing

After the storm

This afternoon the skies went black and we had a terrific storm with strong winds and hail. I don't think it is as bad as the storms they have been having in Europe and the UK. For one thing it isn't as cold either. Reached 32 degrees C before the storm hit today.

This tree is one of the many which were blown down in the winds. It is just in front of Nicki's house @winnedreamer and we went down to her house to get a photo of it. Saw a few trees blown down on the way to Nicki's house too.

I waited until now to put my photo on here because I didn't want to do one from the same angle as Nicki, as I believe she is going to put on a photo of this tree today. She hasn't got round to it yet though. I think Nicki's photo (when she puts it on here) will show the full size of this particular tree.

At least we are putting on a great show of the Australian climate for Anita. So far in the last couple of weeks the temperature has ranged from about 18 degrees C to 35 degrees C. She has experienced bush fires too and now a storm. We haven't had earthquakes or tornado's yet though!!!!

Wow! It looks as if your storm was as bad as ours for uprooting trees. Nice shot though.

Some storm as Paul said, to uproot trees. Your sister is certainly experiencing a variety of weather patterns!

I think we can do without the earthquakes and tornadoes thanks very much! That looks like a biggish tree! I'd hate to have been in the way! There are some huge gums in our neighbours' yards! My husband worries about them in a storm. I try not to think about it!!!

Oh! Hate that when it happens. Your sis is getting the best and the worst. Has she been there before?

It was such a storm, and you've taken this from a different angle, The council have cleaned the whole park, only thing left is the tree, all the broken limbs and debris gone.

Doesn't take much to topple them. I am surprised at how small the root structure is.

Goodness!

@steampowered Our native trees don't have very deep roots which is why they get so top heavy and then of course, Newtons law takes over and they just fall down.

@jackie8 Thanks. We are trying to expose Anita to as much of Australia as we can!!!! Different every day here.

@angelat I worry about some of our trees sometimes too. We have got loads and of course, the roots don't go very deep which is why they fall down in strong winds.

We had a slight earthquake here a few years ago and we also had a tornado which went through a few years ago too which caused no end of damage. Houses demolished etc. Luckily we escaped both.

WOW! Awesome capture. But, sincerely hope you don't have any more disruption like this. Is this the time of year for your storms?
