Soldier crabs are fascinating to watch. These particular ones are in among the mangroves along the waterfront. They only surface for a short time at low tide and then quickly return to their underground homes.
They move so quickly and travel around in large groups, so aren't easy to get a photo of. I saw a couple of soldier crabs being taken by fish as they approached the water's edge, but most managed to escape the jaws of fish.
Unlike most crabs, soldier crabs walk forwards not sideways. Here is a video of them in action if you are interested.
