Moreton Bay Fig by onewing

Moreton Bay Fig

I just love the trunk of Moreton Bay fig trees, they always look quite spooky, especially at night.

Thanks so much to everyone who commented on yesterday's photo of the tattooed tree. I am sure it hasn't been harmed in any way, but I just think it sad when people etch their names on trees.

Yesterday's tree has survived a few east coast lows and a couple of tornados so I am sure it will survive people etching names on it.
Have never seen a tree with such pronounced 'sinews'! AFAIK (As far as I know), not a species known here. Will check.

@leggzy The Norfolk Island Figs would be interesting to see. This is one of a really long row of fig trees on Maitland Road in Newcastle. I think they are quite old too.

They are a lovely tree. It is a pity we don't have many of them down here.

You're right about the tree surviving, but it's still vandalism. I love Moreton Bay figs too, they get so massive. There's one in Swan Hill supposed to date back to Burke and Wills.
