I haven't done any people photos for a while, so I thought I would include people in my photo today.
I put together this diptych of our walking group at Morpeth yesterday.
You can see some of our walkers in these two photos.
The top building is the courthouse and it was built in 1862. The lower photo is of the Commercial Hotel and it was built in 1876. It was destroyed by fire in 1908 and was rebuilt in 1912.
It was a very relaxed walk yesterday and once we reached the main street of Morpeth everyone scattered into either a coffee shop or one of the gift or clothes shops on Swan Street. A few of us after having a cuppa spent our time taking photos.
It was a bit like herding cats trying to get everyone together again for lunch at 12.30 pm, but we managed it and we had a lovely lunch at Savanah's by the river.
In the bottom photo you will see David, he is wearing the white hat and checking out the settings on his camera. He is also in the top photo too if you can spot him.
We definitely increased the population of Morpeth main street yesterday. As you can see even the road has little traffic.
It is mainly a tourist area these days and the weekend is their busy time.
Love the saying. My other one is plaiting fog! Great weather for a lovely day out. Great detail - particularly the commercial hotel. I spotted him. Glad you are feeling better today.
@hermann@casablanca thanks, it was a lovely day and I am feeling much better than I was. Not 100% but it is hard to stop me altogether. I just soldier on. This was an easy walk too. More photo taking, drinking tea and eating lunch than actual walking. Morpeth is such a lovely place to visit.
@pusspup@merrelyn You are right there is always a Commercial. Apparently it is the second most popular name for a pub in Australia, the first being The Royal.
@happypat My kind of walk too. We had a lovely day. I couldn't have coped with anything much more strenuous yesterday though, so it was the perfect walk for me at the moment.
@carole_sandford Yes, we pinch a lot of your place names. I have never been to Morpeth in the UK, so don't know how it compares. Somebody thought it did though when they named it. I Googled it and your Morpeth is much larger than ours with a population of 14,000 people, our Morpeth only has a population of 1,300. It increased quite drastically when our walkers turned up.
@fbailey I think we had about 30 people on this walk. The population of Morpeth is 1300 people, so we increased the population quite considerably that day.
Your walking group sounds very much like our photo club. We all arrive together but it isn't long before we're off in many directions. Thankfully for us though, we come in our own cars and don't have to converge back together when it's time to go. I love the "Where's Dave" game! Nice collage!
certainly looks a quiet little village.. they would of loved it when your group came to town..
