First of all thanks so much for your lovely comments and favs for yesterday's cheese grater shot, who would have thought that a cheese grater, a piece of coloured wrapping paper and a bit of editing could produce such an interesting photo.
A couple of months ago Vera @vera365 posted a photo called Drawer Junk and I thought I would create my drawer junk photo.
During our many moves over the years our drawer junk was put into an old biscuit tin to be sorted at our new home. Somehow the junk just came with us on each move and instead of getting rid of the junk we just added to it and took it to our next new home.
We called the tin 'The Mystery Box'. When our kids were small they used to love playing with the mystery box because it had so many interesting items in it. It really fed their imagination. One game they played was to make an a to z of the items in the tin.
Here are some of the many items in the mystery box.
My daughter has carried on the tradition and she has a mystery box too.
The idea was started by my Nanna because she had a mystery box and I used to love playing with it when I was small.
what a fabulous idea Babs! Just going through all my stuff at the moment to see what I an get rid of. Only wish I had some little ones to enjoy a "mystery box"
@julzmaioro this isnt the drawer Julia I just picked some of the things out of the mystery box and placed them on a piece of card. The drawers in our house I wouldnt dare to photograph. They tend to be messy. Ha ha
We have a junk drawer which did have a bit of a clear out when we moved. However I realise we have some of the items as you in the current drawer.. great idea for a photo.
Wow what an interesting box of items Babs, I suspect we could all find a box like this in the home, the metal shield badge with NYG looks like a school prefects badge to me:)
@pcoulson The badge you mention is the unit badge of the 4th Regiment New York Guard which David's great uncle George Moorhouse served in in the 2nd world war. George Moorhouse was the first Englishman to play in a FIFA world cup in 1930. He played for the United States National Team.
Oh Babs this is priceless. We have a treasure box. Usualy old little toys ended there when ny kids didn’t whant to give them away. You got me thinking that it is really a cool idea in general. You made a nice poster with your items. Keep on collecting misteries making them a treasure...
these could be the things in my work bag...Actually I am too scared to see what is in my work bag, all I know is it is getting heavier and heavier...LOL
Oh how fun! When my sons brought their families more often I had a "toy" bin which had traditional playthings in it, plus an odd assortment of what you would probably call "mystery" items! Love your arrangement and all those clever doo-dads!
What a fascinating idea Babs, I too have a junk drawer but it's a mess completed with this! I suppose if I routed in it & separated the good from the trash I could do this too. I think there might be a few cottoning on to this theme! Great mixture of treasure!
I wish my junk drawer was this interesting. Funny my husband just cleaned our junk drawer and I'm away right now so looking forward to seeing what it looks like when I get home. He hates throwing things away so it will be interesting to see .
Such a wonderful idea for a collage, Babs! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your narrative! Such fun looking at each item in your display from your Mystery Box! :-)
What an interesting flat lay of objects! The little dolls comb and the tape cassette bring back memories - what is the red thing Babs underneath the playing card?

All my mystery box items are back in the biscuit tin now until the next time a little visitor arrives to play with them.
