I am a bit late posting tonight because I have been out most of the day. Keep fit class this morning and cinema this afternoon with a friend. We saw The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Well worth going to see we thoroughly enjoyed it.
My photos this week started at Newcastle Ocean Baths and we walked along the waterfront from The Hill to Merewether Ocean Baths which features in this shot.
Because Newcastle baths was closed for cleaning this ocean baths at Merewether was very popular. There were lots of people swimming at the pool because it was a very hot day, but I wanted to try and get a shot minus people. I just liked the angle of the pool on the left and the shadows and railings at the edge of the pool and the rock pools on the beach at low tide.
If you look on the horizon you can see a couple of coal bulk carriers waiting to enter Newcastle harbour.
I was wondering if that film wad good - great to hear your endorsement. My cousin’s kids just posted shots of themselves at one of these outdoor sea-swimming pools in Sydney. They do look a great blend of safety and nature.
..taking coals to Newcastle! You must know that phrase?
Looks like there must be some serious swimming in the outdoor pool - with all those lanes numbered up. Interesting view - which works well with the line of the railing taking us right to the back of the picture.
@sailingmusic It was a pretty warm day Myrna, 31 degrees C (87f) which is still pretty warm considering it is the middle of Autumn here in the southern hemisphere.
@helenhall Yes I know that phrase. Newcastle is still a very busy port. The coal is brought there from the Hunter Valley by rail and then exported mainly to China.
The ocean pools are very popular in Newcastle all year round. They provide a safe place to swim.
