Today is my birthday and I received these lovely flowers off my friend Phine.
Phine is really called Josephine or Jo for short, but when we met many years ago while out with our walking group Jo was wearing a name tag and the 'Jose' half of her name was hidden under her jacket so just the 'Phine' part was showing. I in introduced myself and said 'Hello Phine' and the name has stuck and we have been firm friends ever since.
I don't get to see Phine as often as I would like because she moved to Mittagong a couple of years ago to live closer to her son. We still talk regularly though and visit each other when we can.
I took the flowers outside on the patio to take a photo of them to email to Phine and say thank you, so I thought I would share the same photo with you today too. I love native flowers and they will no doubt last much longer than ordinary flowers.
I won't be able to catch up until tomorrow because we are out this evening to celebrate my birthday.
PS Thanks so much for putting yesterday's 'Golden Hour' photo on the TP and the PP
Happy birthday Babs. That is a lovely bunch of flowers. I've been taking quite a few flower photos recently - and certainly could do with a bunch like that. Have a lovely day.
Lovely flowers...and very different from those in the Northern Hemisphere. Enjoy your birthday, every minute it of it. There won't be another for a little while;-)
@s4sayer Thanks Margo, there will definitely be another birthday before next year. I regularly see something new I would like to buy so feel 'a birthday coming on'. sometimes on a weekly basis. I have to stay ahead of the game, one year I am going to miss a birthday aren't I.
@danette How unusual that you have a friend called Phine. Is it a nickname like Jo's name?
@ludwigsdiana I have noticed lots of similarities between South Africa and Australia, including drought. New South Wales is 98% in drought at the moment.
How pretty! Happy Birthday Babs! I hope your birthday dinner was delicious and that in the coming year you'll enjoy lots of time with friends, family, and of course, your camera!
@onewing That is so awful Babs! We are still on our severe water restrictions too. Our winter is too dry and too hot. We are not getting half the amount of rain we need to get us through the next summer.
A lovely arrangement of flowers,so pretty.
Beautiful flowers from your friend
