On my way home from yoga this morning I noticed the sky getting blacker and blacker so I pulled over to capture this scene at the beach. This was before the heavens opened and the pelicans don't seem too bothered by the storm heading their way.
I got home before the rain came down, but discovered that our girlie lunch was cancelled because some of the ladies didn't want to go out in the storm. I wasn't going to miss out on a lunch date so David and I went out for lunch instead.
It bucketed down with rain on our way to lunch but by the time we got there the rain had stopped and we didn't get wet. Plus we had a fabulous lunch too. Moral of the story is, always have a Plan B.
Such drama ! the calm before the storm ! I love the calm and serenity of the quiet waters , with the bright white boats and the pelicans under the ominous inky blue sky Glad plan B worked well for you !
Fabulous capture of the scene with that dramatic sky. In the evening, yesterday, I had agreed to go to my daughter's house to watch a football match with her husband; when I went to get dressed I looked out of the window it was raining heavily with very strong gusts of wind. So I called my daughter that I wouldn't be going after all and it was disappointing in the end.
That sky was never going to fail to deliver. You couldn't have painted it on any more menacing. And yet still, bright light on the boats. Glad to hear you are still out and about enjoying lunching.
@annied I heard on the news that you had been hit pretty bad. Hope you have dried out now.
@casablanca Yes I saw on the news that Sydney got hit pretty bad with the storm. Luckily by the time it got up to us it had weakened somewhat. We still had three storms whizzing through though although most of it was out at sea and we only got the tail end.
@sangwann Sorry to hear the weather spoilt your day. We are used to extreme weather here in Australia, so nothing much stops us.
I love the contrast of the turbulent clouds and calm water as well as how boldly the boats stand out against all those shades of blue and gray. Great shot!
