I thought I would carry on with a bit of a Newcastle theme after posting yesterday's light rail photo. Just a bit further along Hunter Street from where I took yesterday's photo is the recently completed NeW Space Campus of Newcastle University. I just love its quirky shapes and angles. I love how it looks so different from each side of the building. I will post another photo tomorrow from the other side of the building.
Next time I go to Newcastle I must find out if the building is open to the general public, because I am sure there would be lots of photo opportunities from the inside of the building too, as there will be excellent views of Newcastle harbour from there I should imagine.
The campus was completed in July of 2017 I believe and cost $95 million. A third of the cost of the 2.7 km light rail that featured in yesterday's photo.
If anyone is interested here is a link to the campus
That is completely bonkers! It's as if someone just threw a load of lego bricks in the air and wherever they landed, they built it that way! But I can totally see the appeal of returning and enjoying looking at it. Great shot of Higgledy-Piggledy Campus!
What an interesting looking building full of photographic angles and opportunities, thanks for the link Babs, looks most impressive all around very modern:)
It's not my cup of tea, but I can see where they took into account the view- so many windows!! It is certainly the epitome of modern architecture and also a great photo opp.
As an engineer, I cringe at the thought of having to do the design and construction of this crazy structure! Architects and engineers get along about as well as Donald and Hillary. Makes for a great photo though!
It is a really interesting building, not to everybody's taste but it is fascinating to look at.
@helenhall Thanks Helen, maybe the link will tell you something about NeW Space https://www.newcastle.edu.au/about-uon/our-environments/new-space
