The Drought Breaks by onewing

The Drought Breaks

Yesterday it bucketed down with rain all day. Unfortunately we had to drive to Newcastle for David's medical appointment.

The rain didn't ease all day and just after we got home I believe the road was closed at Williamtown because of flooding.

According to our rain gauge we had 80 mm rain in 6 hours.

This was taken at Bobs Farm about 11 am just as the rain was starting to get heavy. It got worse as the day went on and over the next couple of days I will post some more photos of our day.
Good for you getting out on that sort of grey blur! It makes a slippery photo and I can even imagine the swish of the tyres on the opposite side of the road!

October 27th, 2020
It's great to get drought breaking rain, but not good to have to drive in it.
October 27th, 2020
It sure does look like a nasty looking day. Great capture and I'm sure it's no fun driving in it.
October 27th, 2020
Nice shot of the downpour
October 27th, 2020
Yes, it looks very gloomy but by the sound of it you needed the rain.
October 27th, 2020
That’s definitely NOT how I think of your part of the world 😂. This looks much more like the UK.
October 27th, 2020

October 27th, 2020
Great shot but very hard driving condition.
October 27th, 2020
Well, although it's good the rain came, I know it's not easy to drive in that kind of downpour. I'm glad you made it home safely.
October 27th, 2020
So much rain! What terrible driving conditions!
October 27th, 2020
It looks like a pretty awful day. Hope tomorrow is better!
October 27th, 2020
Wow, that`s a lot of rain. We call this a `` Wolkbreuk``= +/- cloudburst
October 27th, 2020
Nicely captured!
October 28th, 2020
@maggiemae We had a good spray of water a few times, at least the car had a good wash.

@koalagardens Glad you have had some rain too, hopefully it will damp down the bushfire season.

@robz @jamibann @ingrid01 @kjarn @happysnaps @momamo @pcoulson @beryl @wakelys @pattyblue @gosia @sangwann @brennieb @pusspup @ludwigsdiana @santina @merrelyn @mittens @seattlite @flowerfairyann @susiemc @jernst1779 @craftymeg @cmp @francesc @gijsje @haskar @olivetreeann @loweygrace @busylady @pyrrhula @lilh Thanks. The rain has eased today but more on the way I believe. We really have a good drenching though and it was much needed. Hopefully it will help damp down the ground when the bushfire season begins. Every time we had to get out of the car we got drenched, so came home rather soggy ourselves too.

@casablanca @gilbertwood I almost ended up with webbed feet. Good job I was wearing my sturdy shoes and raincoat. No chance of using an umbrella I would have taken off like Mary Poppins.

Great picture of the miserable weather. just like ours. we had a storm warning a few days ago. it came down in buckets and on top a lightning thunderstorm. it's been raining everyday since.
October 28th, 2020
yikes, not great to drive in.
October 28th, 2020
Miserable weather, but man I'm tired of the dry around here.
