30th January 2014 - A glimpse of summer

Another awful day of torrential rain and sleet so I busied myself sorting one of my rooms trying to make space for the advent of my sister moving in. Early days and so much to do!! I think I overdid it a bit and my ribs are now aching - silly me!! I then remembered today's photo and felt I needed something to remind me of lovely summer days when the sun shines and it is warm. This is a rare Bee Orchid with some buttercups to show how small the plant is. I remember finding this orchid and was so thrilled!! Hurry up spring and summer!! I need some colour in the garden!!

Looks better large against black!!

Many thanks for the lovely comments and Favs on my tulip shots yesterday - I do appreciate you wonderful support!!
What a lovely shot of this beautiful orchid, combined with the buttercups.

A beautiful, summery and happy capture. I love the Bee Orchids, fantastic flowers. I must have missed something about your sister moving in, is it just to help you while you recover from your fall?

@sansjuan Thanks for your lovely comment Nita!! My sister Barbara has decided to sell her house move in with me. Financially it makes sense as we should both come out with money. I also think it is the right thing to do for both of us. There are lots of pros and cons we have gone through but the pros win out by far. All a bit daunting as we have two houses full of things so we are both downsizing - no bad thing!! Barbara loves Finlay and he loves her and I really think the move will help with her depression. It's two years since her husband Jim died and it has been a difficult time for her. So exciting and scary times ahead but I think we are doing the right thing. Watch this space!!

The orchids are charming, and so are the buttercups. I need reminders of spring and summer now, and I know I'm not alone in that!

@pamknowler I totally understand how much having Barbara live with you will be a good thing. It sounds like you are close and you will both be good for each other. Both my sister and I would do the same thing if either of us needed the other. Many blessings and good wishes to both of you as you start out on this journey.
