I have been trying to grow poppies for years and failed every time - even though friends have sent me seeds from all their wonderful displays. This year however I have few poppies showing themselves - early days yet. This is the first bud and I was surprised to see it looks purple rather than red as it is starting to open. Fingers crossed out of the hundreds of new seeds I have planted this year I will finally get a crimson display!!

The tones in this are fantastic -- such a great contrast of purple and golden yellow. And I love the capture of the bud at this phase. Beautifully done.
@eyesmile thanks Gena yes it is and last night I went out to water the garden and the petals have dropped and only the seed head left. What a short life!
