8th November 2014 - Bakewell

This is my first effort this week for my mentoring group - Street Photography. This week no people. There are a few people in the distance so not sure if this disqualifies this entry but in a busy little town it was hard to get the street empty. In fact just as I took this shot a woman came from behind and posted something in the box but I just caught a blur of movement.

Many thanks for your great comments on yesterday's shot. Bakewell gave me the opportunity to walk around and take photos and not feel too conspicuous even though it was my Canon 5D and a wide angle lens.

Back home now - I am sure Wellingborough won't be so easy for Street Photography.
@taffy @newbank @888rachel @golftragic @sullivar My first effort this week. A few people in the distance - does that matter?

No, people are perfect. A street shot is whatever you see on the street. I like this shot. Very colorful.

Well my hubby said it looked a very British shot. I think that means yes it represents what life is like here in the UK. I like the inclusion of red letter box. Something so common to us but not to others in our group.

Really good angle and by zooming in with my iPhone I realized it is also a good shot without the prolate and shops on right. If you crop just to right of benches it looks great too. But not sore how that works with crop ratio and size

Nice street shot -- the post box does it for me !

You did it! I saw the scene before reading it was yours and thought 'street shot -- iconic British looking area' so I think it worked well! The reds, the awnings,, the details of bricks and leaves. I haven't done mine yet (I did take a few over the last few weeks as a 'just in case' - if my knee meant walking was too hard, but I hope to get out today or tomorrow and take one in the business district). FUN!!!

Not only do you have people on the street but you have people in the bus. Wonderful looking street!

It's a great shot

No problem re people in the shot Pam, the whole shot works really well. The slope on the image first focussed the eye on the pillar box and bus, then over to the pavement and shop-fronts. Lovely British town scene. We have people coming this arvo, but hope, hope, hope to get enough free time to get out and about and get at least one shot today.

I really like you street scene. My eye is drawn to the red post box, and then beyond there is so much to look at. Really well done. I know the standards I need to achieve now!

People make a street photograph (in my very naive opinion)! This is wonderfully engrossing.

@kittikat I am still trying to work out what is "Street Photography". In our mentoring group we are supposed to be doing a shot this week with no people. This topic is going to be quite a challenge for me!! Hopefully by the end of the month I will understand it a bit more and feel more confident in taking these kind of shots!!
