10th November 2014 - Life on the River B&W

Yesterday's shot converted to B&W as suggested by Ruth @newbank in my mentoring group. Does this feel more like street photography in B&W. I have noticed a lot of this genre is done in B&W.

Many thanks for your great comments and Favs on yesterday's shots. I was thrilled to see my duck had made it to the PP - not easy these days!!

I reworked the shot in B&W as suggested by Ruth. Do you think this improves the image as a Street shot?

I'm liking it a lot like this. I'm really drawn to the wheelchair which just seems so strange on the barge. Really makes you wonder. In the colour version I kept being drawn to the red door on the barge. Great conversion Pam.

Wonderful textures and tones.

In the color shot I was drawn to the vibrant blue of the barge and the red door, in this b&w it makes you concentrate more on the details.

Sometimes it's hard to know what works best colour or B&W, I love this in B&W!

I think B&W works so will with this one

This is great Pam. The wheelchair is amazing it looks like it's secured. The river will give freedom.

This takes on a whole grungy look in B&W

I think it is much better like this - the form and contrast seem sharper!

Oh, yes, this really works well to me!! And it makes the chair front and center without my eye being drawn to the brighter colors.

Wow, what an interesting shot. There are a lot of great shapes and textures going on there.

Bingo, works much better in b&w.

Intriguing shot, a wheelchair on a barge....

Nice b&w. There's lots to look at!

It certainly looks grungier in b&w, but I think I prefer the colour version. The colours were so lovely.

Yes this works better, gives it a bit more edge!
November 11th, 2014
Certainly edgier!

All that detail works so well in b&w.
