My lovely little robin has just chased away a chaffinch and a dunnock and is now sitting guarding the meal worms!! He is quite aggressive and makes it quite clear that this is his garden and his food. He does have to give way to the black birds and starlings but he chases all the small birds away!!
Many thanks for you lovely comments and Favs on yesterdays shots - very much appreciated as always!!
@quietpurplehaze My garden is on two levels Hazel with the bird feeders on the top in the flower beds. I have sunflower hearts in the feeders. There is a retaining wall and I put the meal worms along that and also in two little bird houses I have put on the wall. The blue tits and great tits all go for the sunflower hearts but the robin and blackbirds love the meal worms!!
Interesting,,thanks. The birds in our garden ignore the seeds and just go for the fat balls all the time. I shall try meal worms for the robins. ( As long as I don't have to touch them!)
@quietpurplehaze I used fat balls until last year when Finlay found a piece on the ground and tried to eat it. It got stuck in his throat and he almost choked!! I managed to open his mouth and push it down!! I really thought he had died!! I will never have those fat balls again!!
