And again, for last time, not an ask for sympathy.
Operation to address a bad cataract on my right eye was a week ago tomorrow, so this, by my maths, is Day 6. I am quite astounded by how well it appears to have gone. The eye is slightly sore, a wee bit gritty and smarts a tad when I put in the drops for 1 or 2 seconds. I am struggling with the new eye lens, looking through the lens in my glasses, which now has a prescription that is utterly useless. I addressed it today, as I’m back at work, by wearing a black eye patch and my reading glasses and worked with just my left eye. It’s going to be interesting when I have the left eye done next month.
It’s also shown how utterly stupid (or male) I was in ignoring the condition, hoping that it would just get better when in actual fact, it just got worse.
Tonight I sleep with the guard on for the last time and tomorrow morning I have the last antibiotic eye drops; the steroid eye drops perversely finish on the morning of the left eye surgery. Yippee.
This is the last ‘diary’ entry I’ll put up for my eye, I hope if anybody is due an op for Cataracts sometime soon, they’ll take heart from my posts.
Glad to hear that your eye is improving daily...every year at my regular check-up my eye doctor says my time for cataract surgery is coming soon...my mom had an easy time with hers and the second eye was easier than the first!
I have shown David your diary shots as he is putting off cataract surgery too. It must be a bloke thing, hoping it will all go away. He has to see his eye specialist next month as he has glaucoma too, so hopefully they will convince him to have the surgery.
I always remember watching this op quite a few years ago now & it’s fascinating. Glad that you might have been able to help someone make a decision too.
I hope everything goes well for you - I can relate to the stinging and grittiness even though my experience of getting a chemical in my eye was around 40 years ago
