This is a first for me in the project; I've not posted a 'food' photo before and probably won't again.
I used to eat this dish regularly back in the 80s when stationed in West Berlin. Admittedly, it was generally eaten very early in the mornings after a troop night out in the city.
It's a 'currywurst mit Pommes' and it was a staple diet of the British Army after a night out anywhere in Germany back then, and was purchased from the many ''Schnelli Imbiss' (fast snack) stalls that you could find on the strassé.
I have a colleague, who currently lives in Germany, who has just come back from two weeks leave and has kindly brought back two tubes of curry sauce and two tubes of German mayonnaise for me (It has to be German Mayo, Helmans is just not right). One of each will remain with me in Wilts, the others will head home.
