Pumpkin Patch by phil_sandford

Pumpkin Patch

Not quite sure when we, over the pond in the UK, started doing the pumpkin thing. I remember Halloween as a kid, but not to the extent that it is today. There are so many combined "Halloween & Bonfire Night" celebrations this year, I've actually asked Carole when that started.

This patch was advertised as a PYO (Pick Your Own), well in my book, that means picking the fruit from the vine (or whatever pumpkins grown on) but these had already been 'picked' and were basically just lying around on hay (bit of a con)

Still, they provided a welcome subject for today's photograph.
Nice display - so many pumpkins around everywhere this year -- I wonder will they all be sold !! Not much about Halloween in my day it was more of penny for the guy !!

It has continually grown in popularity over here to. It approach X-mas for the amount of decorating some people do. And I have friends who live in a particularly busy trick or treating street. They gave out seven large size bags of assorted candies from Costco, if you know it, and they still ran out and had to rush out for more.
