Lavender’ White

Dilly Dilly.

A lovely morning with Carole at Norfolk lavender in Heacham today. It’s not far from us, 80 miles and a couple of hours, but it’s not a pleasant journey on the so called Lincolnshire A roads. That said, it’s always worth a visit and one we do at least once a year.

We had a wonderful breakfast and then liberated the cameras from the car; a quick walk out of the farm along the road to the edge of one of their main fields. The smell was divine. We then re-entered the farm and wondered around their displays of all different kinds of lavender; all shades of blue/purple to this white one (Lavender Edelweiss - which smells exactly the same as its blue cousins). Sadly, they had none of these for sale in the nursery (shall have to look elsewhere).

A slow stroll around the gardens with its quite superb Dahlia display and collection of different Buddleias.

A nice day out (and it didn’t rain)

Thank you for your views, comments and favs on yesterday’s offering. Much appreciated.
I used to go up there with my mother once a year to buy plants! Delightful wee place with a nice cafe and some super gifts as well as plants. I do love a white lavender. Hope you find the ones you are looking for. This is a lovely evocative shot of Summer.

@casablanca Think this is our 3rd year running. Lived in Norfolk 1975-81 but on the Suffolk border so rarely ventured to the Kings Lynn area. My annual pilgrimage home

Sounds like a delightful day out, or maybe I should say a dilly day out.
When we used to sing this song at school we were told that dilly dilly meant delightful.
