Not something we grew up with, but something that in recent years has taken hold here in the UK. I don’t recall pumpkins being available, anywhere as a kid, now I drive past fields of them that you can pick yourself or the supermarkets are overflowing with them leading up to today. I guess it’s something else we’ve adopted from the US (less harmful than adopting their President I guess (though some could argue in Johnson we’ve done exactly that)). Sorry, didn’t mean to get political.
I loved Halloween growing up! I loved walking down the street and trick or treating. Now our great grandsons go to “trunk or treats” at their church where they go from car to car on the church parking lot and trick or treat. Everyone has candy in their car trunks and they dress up in costumes. Since Halloween is on Thursday this year they did the trunk or treat on Saturday. I think they should go on their streets the actual night of Halloween! I guess I’m old fashioned. 😊
Wonderful how you caught the light. We have had that holiday here even in my father’s youth. It is a favorite of young children and of the adults who love handing out the treats.
