'totem' figures in Guérande

We saw these pilgrim figures just outside La Collégiale Saint-Aubin in the fortified town of Guérande. Inside the church I asked the lady on duty if she could tell me about them. She kindly found a whole file of information (after she had admonished Ray for still wearing his sunhat) for me and let me photograph the press cuttings when these sculptures by Nicolas Fédorenko were installed in 2007.
The series of repeating totems has been erected on the site of a former cemetery just outside the wall of La Collégiale and represent the folk who have created Guérande over the centuries. Various trades are represented and 'couples' are also included. (I don't know the French for 'buxom wench' - just my opinion of this sculpture.) See shot 'bottom' right (perhaps view large?)
Interesting looking sculptures Hazel ,and a nice collage
