My first use of masks by rhoing

My first use of masks

Never used masks with Photoshop. Today I watched a tutorial on using masks with filters to blur the background of this image. Google’s Blur tool did blur the background, but it also blurred the glass in Clare’s hand.

This image — and a companion image that kept Clare in color but converted the background to B&W — took me quite a while, as I was learning some terminology and sequencing, but I was laid up today with a significant plantar fasciitis episode, so what else did I have to do?

Going Back and Forward between this post and the filler post with a B&W background, it looks like I did a sloppy job of selecting the mask. I think I may not have been paying attention to the “Feather” parameter.

So where were we? At the Fermentation Science Institute on campus, the subject of a post last fall. Ravinia Brewing Company was here tonight with five of their beers for us to sample, including one that’s already been available locally, Dawg Pound Porter. Admission wasn’t costless, but it was a festive event with crackers, cheeses and fruit to go with the beer. We also got to take the glasses home.

Note. Clare is wearing the ring that I wrote about a couple days ago.
