The Flag Folders [ Filler ]

I noted in yesterday’s post: “In the cemetery, two [very] young Army privates very meticulously removed the flag from the casket, held it during the playing of ‘Taps’ and folded the flag to its traditional triangular ‘pillow’ before presenting — on one knee — to a family member.” These are the two young privates. I assume these are active-duty, regular Army privates (rather than National Guard). I would appreciate someone weighing in on that, if it’s apparent from what’s in the photo of their uniforms.

Not the best composition; I took what I could from where I was standing.

Nothing tears me up more than a military funeral. I've been to many including my late father's. A somber and bittersweet shot.

@marlboromaam I didn't want to move or change my posture to capture this, even though I was on the periphery of the group at the grave site, so I got what I got without disrupting the reverence of the moment. This quandary reminds me of a post and a write-up from several years ago, https://365project.org/rhoing/365/2015-03-08

The flag folders at my husband's funeral were young as well, but I don't know enough about them to give any clues to your questions.
